A new cinema head has been appointed for the Iranian Cinema Organization - affiliated to the Culture Ministry.
Iran Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Reza Salehi Amiri appointed his senior advisor, Mohammad Mehdi Heidarian, as the new deputy minister for cinema affairs.
Heidarian is the 14th cinema deputy since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, having previously served the post 10 years ago for a period of two and a half years.
He succeeds Hojatollah Ayoubi, who was in charge of Iran cinema for the past three and a half years.

Meanwhile, Heidarian previously served as the director general of audiovisual cooperation at the Culture Ministry and director general of monitoring and evaluation of cinema and audiovisual affairs, among others.
He was also the producer of Majid Majidi’s epic film ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’, which has had successful domestic and international screenings.
